1932 Cathedral Radio with CD Player, "The Gothic"

The Cathedral radio, introduced in 1932, is one of the most widely recognized designs of all antique radios. It has quite simply been dubbed the “Cathedral” or is sometimes referred to as the “Gothic.” This remarkably rich replica is outfitted with an arched veneered top and applied solid wood moldings are hand rubbed to perfection. Its smooth round edges, woven grill cloth, detailed fretwork and antiqued bronze face plate lend a true air of authenticity. The Crosley Cathedral CD features a programmable, front-loading CD player with LED display. It is so much like the original, but with all the bells and whistles of present-day technology.

Classic Comet Radio - Modeled After Powell Crosley's 1940's Design
This little receiver was designed entirely around the speaker enclosure and sound chamber. Even its shape is no accident. Inspired by one of Powell Crosley's original designs from the 1940's, the unique curve of the Comet functions as a "funnel" to improve bass response. If radio isn't your thing, take advantage of our portable audio-ready feature. Take your favorite MP3 player, CD player, Walkman™ or satellite radio and "hook it up" with the included connection kit. Featuring a 3" full-range studio quality driver and discrete amplification system, you will be amazed again and again by the clarity of your favorite tunes or talk.

Classic 1930's Depression Era Companion Radio, in Paprika
"Happy Days are Here Again" went the most popular tune of 1930, but for most Depression-era Americans, the sentiment amounted to wishful thinking. In 1932, Herbert Hoover was defeated by Franklin Delano Roosevelt by a landslide. It quickly became apparent after this runaway victory that FDR embodied and indomitable optimism and a speaking voice which seemed tailor-made for the medium of radio. He began delivering regular radio addresses to the nation known as "fireside chats." And all such tunes and talk were most magnificently enjoyed on radio sets just like this Companion. Careful attention to detail makes this mini, yet magnificent, Cathedral-style radio as authentic as the 1930's original.
